This has not been tested. It is non-magnetic. Believed to be India Silver because Indian silver is alloyed with lead and copper to give it a heavier feel.
There is a letter/note in the box, possibly Urdu, spoken predominantly in Pakistan and India. Urdu is the national language of Pakistan and shipping one of two official languages. English is the other official language.

Dating was difficult; however, I believe this was made prior to the end of Britain's rule in India.

Absolutely lovely.
This was part of a rather large Virginia estate. The owner had a major collection of dozens of collectible boxes, several of which will be listed in the shop.
