French Antique Hand Made Souvenir Casket - Jewelry Box with Strasbourg - Alsace, Wedding Couple in Traditional Alsatian Attire

Alsace is located in the top right hand corner of France on the border with Germany. The regional culture is strong - the particular dramatic head dresses of the girls with these large satin bows starched way over their heads can be seen all over decorating kitchen items, store windows, and are still worn for festive holiday shipping celebrations. Their hands are clasped. The handpainted design was decorated with little pieces of stone with raised paint - it can still be seen in the close up. The bride is carrying a bouquet and the groom a large umbrella, presumably to keep them both dry.

Inside the blue silk tufted cushion is in good shape, though not perfect.
